Durga Puja is one of the biggest festivals of West Bengal. This auspicious festival is celebrated annually in honor of Goddess Durga in the month of Ashwin (Autumn). All the people of West Bengal eagerly wait for Durga Puja. It's a very famous festival which rejuvenates our culture and brings everyone together. Every family member, every neighbor gathers together in this famous occasion. It's also a famous festival of reunion. This power packed celebration lasts till 10 days, from Mahalaya to Dashami. Many rituals are done to worship Ma Durga. Cotton like clouds and kash flowers are the sign of Durga Puja. Goddess Durga is worshiped as the God of powers who destroys all the demons. Conventionally at this time goddess Durga come to her father's house with her four children, Lakshmi, Ganesh, Kartik and Saraswati. At this time every lanes are decorated with lights and sounds of playing Dhaks (drums) come from every pandals which make a nostalgic atmosphere everywhere. Some big families arrange Durga Puja at their home in former tradition. Nowadays themed Durga Puja is organised by many Puja committees which is very famous and people in large number visit there to fascinate themselves by seeing the beautiful works of theme makers. Wearing new dresses, Pandal hoping, gathering with new and old friends and families and having delicious foods are the must thing that's done by every people in Durga Puja. Durga puja is also organised outside of Bengal and also in many foreign countries.
