Rakhsha Bandhan II The Strongest bond between a brother and a sister

A very happy Rakhsha Bandhan to all my brothers and sisters. The bond between a brother and a sister is the strongest bond of the world. We Indians celebrate this bond as Rakhsha Bhandhan on the last day of Hindu Lunar Calendar month of Shraavana. On this day, Sisters and brothers both commit each other that both will take care of each other and promise to protect each other from every obstacles and wish that their bond will go stronger. Generally, sisters tie a beautiful "rakhi" around her brother's wrist and brothers give gifts and blessings to their sisters. Rakhsha Bandhan is celebrated variously among different religions. The religions of North India, specifically in Jammu, people celebrate this occasion by flying kites. The skies are full with kites of different shape and colors in this time. The religions of Haryana call this ocassion as "Salono" and sisters tie threads around their brother's wrist to protect them from evil. The religions of West Bengal and Odisha call this day as Jhulan Purmina and arrange puja for Lord Krishna and Radha and sisters tie beautiful designer "rakhi" around his brother's wrist and bless them for long life. The religions of Nepal call this day as Janaipurnima of Rishitarpani and they perform a holy thread ceremony. The religions of Maharashtra celebrate this day as Narali Purnima or Coconut Day Festival. On this day the Koli communities of Maharashtra throw coconut into the sea as a tribute to Lord Varuna, the Hindu god of sea and all Maharashtrian sisters tie "Rakhi" around their brothers wrist. And by all these different ways Rakhi is celebrated in all over India and this is the most secure bond between a brother and a sister.
